Taroko National Park
It is the fourth national park established in Taiwan. It was formerly the Tsugitaka-Taroko National Park established during the Japanese colonial period. After the Second World War, it became a national-level scenic spot. The development plan was announced on November 12, 1986, and the management office was established on November 28, 1986. It is located in the eastern part of Taiwan, and spans across three administrative regions, that of Hualien County, Taichung City and Nantou County. Taiwan’s first East-West Cross-Island Highway cuts across the park, Taiwan’s first thing crosses the highway or is otherwise called the Central Cross-Island Highway System.
